Again in 2022, we lower the Canadian flag at police agencies across Canada as yet another police constable's life was taken through a senseless act of cowardly violence.
OPP Constable Grzegorz PIERZCHALA was a 28-years-old officer whose life was cut short after only one year of service. His name will be added to the Honor Role of the heroes who gave their life so that we may enjoy peace and security. I pray that justice will be served and I'm thankful that the offenders were apprehended by officers prior to any further acts of violence.
On behalf of the police chaplains of the CPCA, I express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Constable Pierzchala. Our prayers for comfort and peace go out to his immediate family and his police family who now face the aftermath of the tangible loss of their loved one and comrade. We also pray for strength and resiliency for all chaplains and all professional caregivers who are and will be providing support to the immediate family and the police family.
My heart and those of many police chaplains ache from yet another tragic loss within the Canadian police family. Thank you, Constable Pierzchala, and all those Canadian police officers who before you paid the ultimate sacrifice to ensure the safety of the communities in which you served. You will not be forgotten.
