RCMP "K" Division Chaplain Michael Rolph recently resigned from the CPCA Executive Officer position of Past President. Michael served as CPCA President from 2018 to 2020 and it was under his leadership that I first entered the CPCA as an elected 2nd Vice President. Michael's knowledge of rules and procedures for conducting meetings as "Chair" was second to none. He was always well prepared and his approach was well laid out. I benefitted directly under his leadership as the "youngster" and respected his leadership abilities. In response to his resignation email, I shared with Michael my opinion of his leadership capabilities which I associate with the Traub Manufacturing Company slogan now used by the Ford Motor Company: "often imitated, never duplicated."
In 2021, Michael transitioned to the Past President role where he shared his wisdom and knowledge, continuing to assist in advising the new President and Executive Officers. One of Michael's lasting accomplishments as Past President came through his willingness to Chair our Constitution Committee. Michael led a team and drafted Constitution amendments from 2021 to 2023. Three consecutive AGM meetings brought these proposed amendments to a membership vote. All amendments were approved. The most significant of amendments was the proposal of Regional Groups and Regional Directors. In Winnipeg, on Oct 19, 2023, our Membership approved Michael's proposals resulting in Article 7 of our current CPCA Constitution. As of January 17th, 2024, the CPCA has 5 Regions and 5 Regional Directors in place to facilitate closer regional connection, support, and training to our CPCA Members.
On behalf of the CPCA Leadership Team, thank you Michael for your years of service as a CPCA Executive Officer. Your wisdom and presence will be missed at our monthly Zoom meetings. A plaque from the CPCA Membership will be sent to Michael honouring his time of service on the CPCA Executive.
Best regards,
Bruce Ewanyshyn
CPCA President
ICPC Director of Region 1
