Intro to Critical Incident Debriefing

On Sept 13th, the CPCA hosted its second instructional Webinar. Close to 50 police chaplains across Canada, both CPCA Members and non-Members, joined together via Zoom to listen to and interact with our presenter - RCMP Corporal Jocelyn Cardinal. Jocelyn is the Peer Coordinator for the RCMP "K" Division Wellness Unit. In addition to providing a comprehensive slide presentation, Jocelyn's extensive experience in the field brought principles/practices to life through the practical illustrations she provided. Chaplains were given the opportunity to ask questions throughout the presentation which made for a highly interactive 2.5 hours of time well invested. Thank you, Cpl. Cardinal, for sharing your expertise on the subject matter of CID.

I would like to recognize our CPCA 1st VP George Madden who works alongside Jocelyn in fulfilling one aspect of his many duties as Chaplain Coordinator for the RCMP "K" Division. Chaplain Madden spearheaded this Webinar and made all arrangements to bring this presentation to police chaplains. Thank you, George, for your walking out your vision for training and equipping police chaplains across Canada.

All chaplains who attended the Webinar have received reference materials and a CPCA Certificate of Attendance. For the CPCA Chaplains who attended, the 2.5 hours of training has been credited to you and counts towards attaining your Basic Certification. Thank you to all the non-CPCA chaplains who attended. If you are currently serving a police agency as a chaplain in Canada, please consider completing an application to become a CPCA Member. There are numerous benefits to a CPCA Membership which includes a 50% discount to attend future CPCA Webinars and the opportunity to achieve Basic Certification through the CPCA. The savings from attending three webinars/year pays for a CPCA Membership. There is the opportunity to participate in On-Line training courses which are only available to CPCA Members.

One last note, our ATS is just over a month away in beautiful Niagara Falls. Our line-up of presenters is impressive, and the Registration cost includes payment of the banquet dinner. All police chaplains are invited to Register here, where you can find more details regarding our event and the cost. Once again, CPCA Members receive a discount. On behalf of the CPCA Leadership Team, thank you for your continued interest and support of the Canadian Police Chaplain Association.
