Another Tragic Loss for OPP and Canada

Our Canadian policing community, police chaplains, first responders and all those who admire and respect law enforcement personnel grieve the tragic loss of OPP Constable Tarun Bali.

On June 9th at around 1230 hours, while conducting an investigation in Hearst, Ontario, Cst. Bali was struck by a motor vehicle. The 18 year old driver was apprehended and faces first-degree murder charges.

Cst. Bali was a member of the OPP Dufferin Detachment with two and a half years of service; he was only 29 years young. This is a devastating loss to the law enforcement community and the City of Brampton where Tarun and his family have strong ties.

On behalf of the CPCA Executive, National Leadership Team, and all CPCA members, our deepest condolences to the Bali family, relatives and friends, police and first responder colleagues, especially those serving with the Ontario Provincial Police. Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through the shock of your loss and grieve a life without Tarun. Once again, we reflect on the incredible sacrifice and risk every man and woman commits to when they take an oath to serve and protect a community in Canada. We owe you our deepest gratitude and respect.

Our thoughts and prayers are also with our OPP police chaplains as they provide support to the family and colleagues of Cst. Bali. Thank you for the love and commitment you share to walk alongside those who are heartbroken and in pain at the loss of a hero.

With deep respect on behalf of the CPCA,

Bruce Ewanyshyn

CPCA President

ICPC Director of Region 1

Retired BPS Constable & Honorary Chaplain
