CPCA Webinar from Feb 2026 on Suicide Prevention & Effective Dialogue: "Hope With Skin On - How Chaplains Can Be Part of the Solution"

The CPCA presents a training session for suicide prevention and effective dialogue entitled, "Hope With Skin On: How Chaplains Can Be Part of the Solution to Suicidal Desperation Among the People That We Serve". This workshop video will equip participants to recognize the signs of suicide, will help to expand your thinking about what causes suicidality, will offer some simple behavioral interventions to use in a suicide crisis, and will offer suggestions for dialogue when dealing with families post suicide. Our presenter Michelle Snyder is the Executive Co-Director of the Soul Shop Movement, which is the global leader in faith-based suicide prevention. Michelle has been at the helm of the Soul Shop movement since its inception and it has grown to a global movement that spans 4 countries, 3 continents and over 40 states. Soul Shop's mission is to equip faith communities to both minister to those impacted by suicide but also to recognize the significant role faith communities can play in the ministry of companioning the desperate into a place of hope. Michelle is a sought after keynote speaker in the intersection of faith and suicide. Michelle is also the co-author of Life, Death, and Reinvention: The Gift of the Impossibly Messed-Up Life. While the topic of Suicide is wrought with complexity, there are some simple things that have been proven to make a real difference for people experiencing isolation, desperation and trauma to the point of death; Michelle provides these tools in her video presentation. This is a training presentation. Therefore, upon conclusion of this webinar, participants will receive a CPCA Certificate from our CPCA Registrar. Participants who are CPCA members will receive credit on their training record. Once you have watched the recording, send an email notification to our CPCA Registrar at Registrar@the-cpca.ca and arrangements will be made for you to receive a certificate and have your CPCA training record updated (CPCA members only).
