About
The CPCA presents a training program to empower you to continue to be a compassionate witness and provide helpful interventions and practical suggestions to use when your colleagues are suffering. Self-care strategies and research on trauma and the need for self care is the focus of the presentation. Our presenter Eugene Dufour has assisted First Responders involved in Canada's worst mass murders including being boots on the ground in Nova Scotia in 2020. Eugene is an Individual, Marital and Family Therapist, Bereavement Specialist, Compassion Fatigue Educator and a Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Consultant. He received his Bachelors and Masters degree from King’s College at the University of Western Ontario. For the past 45 years Eugene has dedicated his career to the provision of excellence in trauma work. Self care is essential to provide and receive compassionate care. This program will provide direct and clear suggestions and actions in order to provide compassionate self care to our co workers and ourselves. Current information and research on trauma and the need for self care will be a focus of the presentation. “Self-care is never a selfish act - it is simply good stewardship of the only gift I have, the gift I was put on earth to offer others. Anytime we can listen to true self and give the care it requires, we do it not only for ourselves, but for the many others whose lives we touch.” Parker Palmer. This is a training presentation. Therefore, upon conclusion of this webinar, participants will receive a CPCA Certificate from our CPCA Registrar. Participants who are CPCA members will receive credit on their training record. Once you have watched the recording, send an email notification to our CPCA Registrar at Registrar@the-cpca.ca and arrangements will be made for you to receive a certificate and have your CPCA training record updated (CPCA members only).
